Keynote

Topic: Leveraging Collaboration and AI to Enhance Dialogic Teaching: Evidence-Based Strategies for Professional Development

Productive classroom talk is key to enhancing interaction quality and fostering students’ higher-order thinking. Even as AI makes information more accessible, the fundamental approach to effective learning through dialogue and classroom conversation remains essential. In the AI era, skills like critical thinking and reasoning are increasingly valuable. However, teachers often struggle to implement dialogic teaching in the classroom. This talk draws on empirical research to present actionable strategies for enhancing teachers’ dialogic teaching competence. It shows how structured, collaborative analysis of classroom discourse can turn abstract principles into concrete practices, supporting knowledge reification and sharpening professional vision. It also examines how AI tools can facilitate reflection on classroom talk, addressing practical questions such as how accurate transcripts need to be and how AI accuracy affects dialogue analysis and feedback. These studies provide educators with pathways to design future-ready, technology-enhanced professional development and to transform classroom practices.
